A Rumbly in my Tumbly |
Because my food obsession needed a blog of it's own. A place for food. What I'm cooking, eating, or fantasizing about. I'm going to try to post recipes, too, because I'm always losing/forgetting those. They'll be in the comments. Disclaimer: I'm an amateur cook who simply loves food :) So it's safe to assume the less pretty ones are my own kitchen creations |

SCONES!
I made Apple-Cinnamon and Dried Fruit Scones this morning. Life is good
I just moved from L.A. to Missoula, MT. Yeah we drove 1200 miles non-stop through four states and are squating here at our friends apartment. Really no time or money for food or cooking :( Hopefully I can get baking and wrecking havoc in that kitchen soon .
Just tried a potato ball from Porto’s for the first time EVER.
F me in the A, that’s some straight up crack.
My life & thighs are ruined forever.
YES YES YES
THEY TASTE LIKE GOD’S BALLS
ohmylord.
Vegetarian myself, but everytime I’ve seen someone eat them, their face will contort into all sorts of orgasmic expressions. They MUST be God’s balls then.
I LOVE their espresso and baked goods!
I’m making the most glorious french toast anyone of us has ever seen!
Flamin’ Bananas Foster

Well ain’t that sweet?
It has another name. To me this is just Crikey!
Serves 1
- 1.5 ounces Irish whiskey (preferably Jameson)
- 4 ounces Irish Cream ice cream (I used Ben and Jerry’s Dublin Mudslide but Haagen Dazs Baileys Irish Cream would be good, too)
- 12 ounces Guinness beer (or any other stout beer)
- Pour the whiskey into a pint glass.
- Add the ice cream to the glass.
- Slowly pour the Guinness over the ice cream, making sure that a head forms. Serve immediately.

Good god, what is this mouth watering deliciousness before me?
At Costco today I had the pleasure of having a spot up front at the Vitamix demonstration. It was amazing! Whole food ‘juicing’, smoothie making, ice cream making, food processing, grinding, blending, even cooking! Yes, the motor is so fast that it can heat up the contents of the blender to a BOIL in 15 minutes!
I was standing there dreaming of all the awesome stuff I could be making with one of these—black bean hummus, pureéd soups, molé sauces, salsas, smoothies, protein shakes, pie crust dough, cake batters, cole slaw, homemade soymilk, cashew cream, peanut butter, pumpkin seed spread, tahini, etc.
Then I saw the price! $395! Crap-ola!
Is it worth it? Anybody have a Vitamix? or Health Master Blender? or something comparable to these? Which is the best? How often do you use it?
I was planning on saving up for a bigger food processor or Kitchen Aid mixer, but would the Vitamix be a better investment? It’s crazy expensive!
Got any advice?
Coconut Flan
